And lately, rumors have been circulating about an Erin Andrews peephole video. No one knew for sure, but the video showed up on an Internet web page known for voyeuristic video for a few days. Still, no one knew for sure if it was Erin Andrews of ESPN (hotness) fame.

However, the unknown became known when ESPN decided to get involved at a legal level. Clearly, if the video had not been of Erin Andrews, then ESPN would have not needed to get involved. But they sent this letter to the website owners who published the video:

Your continued posting of these pictures are highly likely to render you an accessory after the fact to a criminal act. We hereby demand that you (i) immediately remove these pictures from your site and (ii) disclose to us the source of the pictures. We intend to hold you fully responsible for further display of material that so obviously violates the law.

Please confirm by return e-mail that you intend to comply with these demands. In the absence of such confirmation we will assume you are an active and willing participant in these acts.

Going even fruther, Andrews’ lawyers got into the fray:

“While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future. Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin’s privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.”

2009 Home Run Derby

2009 Home Run Derby Growing up, the Home Run Derby was always my favorite part of baseball’s All Star weekend. I used to love it. I remember my dad telling me about the Home Run Derby TV show that he used to watch with the old stars like Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Mickey Mantle; and there was just something inherently exciting about seeing baseball’s biggest and best stars step up to the plate with one thing on their mind: swinging for the fences.

And, of course, this was back in the late 80s and early 90s when my love for the long ball was still untainted by steroids. It was the same innocent awe with which I watched Big Mac and Sammy’s 1994 1998 (thanks Scott) pursuit of Roger Maris.

Times have changed now, and the home run isn’t quite what it used to be. And neither is the Home Run Derby. Maybe it’s because of steroids, maybe it’s just because I’m older, or maybe it’s because my childhood heroes like The Big Hurt and The Kid are no longer sweet-swinging for the fences the night before the All Star Game anymore. For whatever reason, the Home Run Derby is no longer must-watch TV for me now. I’m still interested in it, but I don’t plan my night around watching it.

With all that being said, I had the opportunity to re-watch last year’s Home Run Derby this past weekend. They replayed it on either ESPN or the MLB Network, I don’t remember which one, but I sat through the first hour of it just so I could watch Josh Hamilton put on the most amazing 10-out sequence in the history of the Derby. I didn’t get to watch the entire thing last year, but after seeing highlights and hearing people gush about it non-stop (especially here in Dallas), I had to watch.

And my goodness, it was everything it was cracked up to be and more. I could not find the actual TV broadcast on YouTube, but there is plenty of amateur video available from people who were in the stands that night. One of them is below:

Reports say Amanda Rodrigues claims that she was in the resort complex for 10 hours with the couples son without noticing the body of her husband and there were also reports the couple were fighting, with the relationship between the married pair deteriorating recently.

The couple, Artura Gatti and Amanda Rodrigues, were said to have rented the resort apartment for a month for a "second honeymoon."

Boxer Arturo Gatti met dancer Amanda Carine Barbosa Rodrigues when she was studying international relations at College in New Jersey. Amanda Rodrigues worked as an exotic dancer to pay the bills. Gatti and Amanda Rodrigues dated for two years before they married.

According to Amanda Rodrigues statement, she claims she woke up on the morning of July 11 and claimed to have found Gatti with damage to the back of his head and strangle marks on his neck.

When police arrived on the scene, a bloody purse strap was discovered in the room. It is thought Gatti was deliberately strangled to death with the purse strap. A Brazilian media conference was told Amana Rodrigues was the main suspect in the incident.

Born in Italy and naturalized as a Canadian, Arturo "Thunder" Gatti rose to fame as a boxer in the mid 1990's and by the early 2000's he was a well known name globally.

Gatti's career spanned 49 fights and he won 40 of them, 31 by knockout.

Back in March 2009, Gatti was charged with assaulting Amanda Rodrigues. After failing to appear in court a judge ordered Gatti to stay 200 meters or more from Amanda Rodrigues. Despite this Amanda Rodrigues, a Brazilian national, married her apparently abusive partner.

WASHINGTON:An Alabama family doctor who twice resurrected her clinic in a rural Alabama fishing village after it was devastated by hurricanes will be nominated to be the new U.S. surgeon general, an administration official said on Monday.

Benjamin won a MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant in 2008 for her work founding the Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic to serve a Gulf Coast fishing community of 2,500 people in 1990. It was devastated twice, by Hurricanes Georges in 1998 and Katrina in 2005, according to a biography by the MacArthur Foundation.

"Despite scarce resources, Benjamin has painstakingly rebuilt her clinic after each disaster and set up networks to maintain contact with patients scattered across multiple evacuation sites," the foundation's biography reads.

"She has established a family practice that allows her to treat all incoming patients, many of whom are uninsured, and frequently travels by pickup truck to care for the most isolated and immobile in her region."

The Obama administration is trying to usher a comprehensive healthcare reform package through Congress, with the aim of both cutting costs and covering more Americans. An estimated 46 million Americans lack health insurance coverage.

The surgeon general, who leads the uniformed Public Health Services Commissioned Corps, usually sets a broad tone for public health policy, by issuing advice on smoking, for example, or obesity and exercise.

Benjamin appears to have hands-on experience in some of the changes the Obama administration advocates.

"Benjamin is skilled, as well, in translating research on preventive health measures into accessible, community-based interventions to decrease the disease burdens of her diverse patient base, which includes immigrants from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, who comprise a third of Bayou La Batre's population," the MacArthur Foundation said.
