Curt Schilling
Curt Schilling: Yup, ex-Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling is apparently interested in running for the U.S. Senate seat that is vacant in Massachusetts after the death of Edward M. Kennedy.
Curt Schilling, According to a Boston Globe report, Curt Schilling might be a candidate. If he runs, he will presumably do so as a Republican -- Schilling has stumped for George W. Bush and John McCain in their presidential campaigns. [Updated at 1:30 p.m.: The Globe based its report on a phone interview by New England Cable News.]
If Curt Schilling does go on the ballot, it will be the political equivalent of a change-up, because that Senate seat in Massachusetts has been held by Democrats since John F. Kennedy was elected to it in 1952.
Schilling, 42, retired last year after arm problems with a 216-146 lifetime record in the regular season. But as Angels fans know, Schilling shined in postseason, with an overall 11-2 record.
And if Schilling needs to jump-start his Senate campaign, he should be able to find some cash. According to baseball-reference.com, he earned $114 million in his career.
