As LALATE reported earlier this morning, YSR went missing after depature from Hyderabad. AP CM Y.S.R. Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, and his helicopter are believed in dense jungles Wednesday.
The leader’s helicopter departed at 8:30 am from Begumpet airport. YSR’s pilot remained in communication with air traffic control until at least 9:00 am. Once over Nallamalla forests, rain was detected, prompting the last contact with control at 9:12 am.
Chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy said today:
“It was last sighted by villagers between Atmakur and Bandiatmakur close to Rollapenta entering the Nallamalla forests from Kurnool district towards Prakasam district between 9.15 am and 9.30 am.”
K. Rosiah, the state finance minister issued a statement Wednesday:
“The chief minister’s chopper still remains untraced. I am appealing to people to please help us in search operations”
While bad weather was in the region, concerns are over the Maoist rebels in the area.
“We hope that he would be safe but we could not establish any contacts as the forest is dense and heavy rains are continuing in the area”.
Four others were on board during dense rain, a flight headed for Anupally in Chittoor district.
