Brandon Carter Texas Tech, Texas Tech offensive lineman Brandon Carter, a preseason All-America selection, has been suspended indefinitely from the Red Raiders team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

The action came only a day after the Red Raiders' disappointing 29-28 loss at Houston Saturday night.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported Sunday that Carter told followers of his Twitter account that he had been suspended and stripped of his captaincy.

"I am not a captain anymore and will not be playing this week. Good luck red raiders ill still be cheering on my family from the stands!!:)," Carter wrote earlier this afternoon.

The Red Raiders will meet New Mexico Saturday afternoon in Lubbock.

The Red Raiders' bitter loss at Houston Saturday night dropped them to 2-2 for the season. The Cougars scored the winning touchdown on a 16-play, 95-yard drive as Case Keenum scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds left. It was Texas Tech's second road loss in as many weeks.

Tech canceled its normally-scheduled day-after light workout Sunday like it normally has after most games.

The Avalanche-Journal reported that several players were disappointed by that action.

Senior linebacker Marlon Williams was especially vociferous about Texas Tech coach Mike Leach's leadership on his Twitter account.

"Wondering why I'm still in this meeting room when the head coach can't even be on time to his on [sic] meeting," Williams wrote on his "Kos 39" Twitter account.

Carter, a 6-foot-7, 344-pound senior, was named as a first-team All-American last season by the Sporting News and the American Football Coaches Association after not allowing a sack in 2008.

Carter did not give a reason why he was being suspended on his Twitter account.

"This is not how I saw our season," he wrote only a few minutes after the Red Raiders' loss. "I just cried like am [sic] idiot. I want us to be so good my last year and I feel like I'm letting everyone down."
