Cincinnati School Closings

Several days of cold temperatures and some snow on the roads creating a dangerous combination Cincinnati-area morning in March Roads are slick, causing several accidents overnight and will lead to delay or cancel school for some children today.

Local 12 Meteorologist John Gumm said we had only maybe an inch dusting of snow in most parts of the Tri-State overnight. Snow showers and flurries will throughout the day. Could be an inch or less of additional collection.

Roads in the northern counties have been slick since late last night. To identify causes slick semi-truck to jackknife on I-71 in Deerfield Township around 9 pm Monday. No one hurt but because of fuel leak, I-71 north was to be closed until just after midnight. Also four accidents over night I-71/75 in Northern Kentucky officials who say their weather-related. Most serious include semi-trucks and two cars near the exit Florence.

Salt on the road crews have worked where the temperature stays in the medium to high teens, but if the temperatures dip much lower, road crews to use something stronger. Hamilton County crews have been out treating roads since late last night and reinforcements called in about 3 to try and find the ways to get into shape for the morning. Most of the major streets of the wet spots with a few slushy side streets, but much remains to be plowed or treated. The conditions leading to the decision by dozens of areas of local schools to cancel or delay the start of classes today.
