Supposedly Rashad Evans will fight Quinton Jackson but because Jackson is just busy on his movie schedule the fight was postponed. There are many things that happened that made their fight impossible and one of this is when Jackson quits UFC (but he's back right now). UFC have to replace him and Dana White look for another fighter well-matched for Evans and that is how Silva's name emerged.
Thiago Silva won on his previous match against Keith Jardine. It was just one round match and Jardine wasn't able to withstand Silva's power. the fight ended at 1:35. Evans doesn't have good match previously. He was no match with Lyoto Machida. Though Silva has a good match in UFC 102, he was also one of Machida's victims.
