Hakeem Nicks Injury, On Friday night, I wrote about Mario Manningham's route-running issues.
Well, apparently, the Giants coaches have had enough of them.
Rookie Hakeem Nicks will start over Manningham for Sunday night's game against the Eagles. It will be the first career start for Nicks, who has five catches for 575 yards and 5 touchdowns this season. Manningham has 46 receptions for 675 yards and 4 TDs, but even when he's been successful, he's struggled with the finer points of his game. As offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride noted, many of Manningham's 10 catches against the Falcons a few weeks ago were "dangerously close to the sideline."
One other change in the starting lineup on the defensive side of the ball: Aaron Ross will start at safety in place of C.C. Brown. Michael Johnson, who was out last week against the Cowboys with a groin injury, is dressed but will play in relief. It will be the first career start at safety for Ross, who is looking more comfortable at his new position each week.
As for the inactives, DT Rocky Bernard is not dressed for the first time this season. Bernard is in the first season of a four-year, $16-million deal. WR Sinorice Moss is inactive for the fifth straight game.
For the Eagles, WRs DeSean Jackson (concussion) and Jeremy Maclin (foot) are both active as expected. WR Kevin Curtis (knee) is inactive.Hakeem Nicks Injury
