Nfl Playoff Bracket 2010, Nfl playoff Schedule 2010: The 2010 AFC Playoff brackets are finally set. NFL Playoffs. It took all the way into the Sunday night game on NBC because the New York Jets controlled their own destiny.

All the Jets needed to do was beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night and they would clinch the second AFC Wild Card slot. Earlier in the day it was the Baltimore Ravens that clinched the first AFC Wild Card slot, and it put even more pressure on New York to either win or go home at the end of the night. Yet another season also ended with Denver falling flat in the last month of the season, and maybe the analysts should talk more about that, and less about the Dallas Cowboys.

The top two seeds had already been decided before coming into the week 17 games. Indianapolis had clinched the #1 seed with the San Diego Chargers nailing down the #2 seed last week. That left the #3 and #4 seeds to be decided between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots, and for the two wild card slots to be determined by a group of five teams that all had a very strong shot at them.

There were actually seven teams still able to qualify for one of those wild card slots coming into Sunday, but one by one the teams started to fall as the week 17 schedule played out. When Baltimore won their game it limited even more what other teams could hope for, but with Houston and Pittsburgh both pushing their records to 9-7 they had been hoping for a miracle.

New England won the tie-breaker over Cincinnati to decide the #3 seed in the 2010 AFC brackets, and that meant the schedule would favor New England if the two ended up meeting in the AFC Championship Game. With New York way ahead of Cincinnati already, it is almost a done deal that the AFC Playoff brackets are now set. Barring a late game come-back by the Bengals the seeding is as follows.

The New York Jets win the tie-breaker with Baltimore to take the first wild card slot and the #5 seed as the AFC Playoffs get ready to start on Saturday, January 9th.
