After first moving to LA, you took a stand-up class. Your final assignment was to perform in a comedy club. What did it feel like? It felt really natural. Like it wasn't my first time. I was nervous before I went on stage but once I said my first joke I was fine. There is no feeling like getting an instant positive reaction to something you have created.

What tricks have you learned to calm your nerves before going on stage? I dance! I put good music on that pumps me up and I dance.

What is the hardest part of getting up in front of a crowd of strangers and trying to make them laugh? Not knowing if they came to have a good time or came to be "impressed" You always wonder if they are going to be a good crowd or moody crowd. I had just finished a sold out weekend in one city flew to the next city where only 19 people showed up! I would have been ok if they were a good 19 but they were a terrible 19!

When did you discover your knack for making people laugh? I knew I could make my friends and family laugh but I didn't discover that I could make strangers laugh until I got up on stage that first night.

What's your earliest memory of entertaining others? We would always do shows for our family in the living room. We have a big family with lots of cousins.

You're a comedian...have you been caught in an awkward/embarrassing situation recently where you've had to use your sense of humor to get out of it? In an awkward sitch, I usually try a joke, but if that doesn't work, forget it! Now I'm intimidated and awkward, too. We can both just sit here and stare at each other in silence!

Any great tips for turning an awkward situation into a funny one? Self-deprecating humor. Make fun of yourself before they can!

You used to be an Oakland Raiders cheerleader. What was your favorite part about that and what made you decide to give that up and pursue acting? I didn't give up cheerleading to pursue acting. I actually used the audition for the Oakland Raiderettes as my sign to move to LA. I said if I made the squad that I would do it for one year and then move to LA to pursue acting. So I just kept my promise to myself.

You danced and cheered your way through school; do you still dance at all? What do you do to stay fit? I dance in my bathroom, my hotel rooms, my car, grocery stores, where ever there is music i dance. Not so much for performance anymore, but I love to dance for fun. I give my fans a little bit of my dancing goodness in my Comedy Central one hour special. I like to take cardio kickboxing classes. They play really good music and I get to feel tough doing all of these punching and kicking moves. Best part about it is that nobody hits or kicks me back!

You just took a trapeze class that you loved; what made you decide to try something so risky? Do you think you'll do it again? I loved it! I was in Gilbert Arizon at Trapeze U. My friend Jennifer Lynn who I cheered with on the Raiders lives there and she asked me to take the class with her. So fun. I will definitely do it again.Anjelah Johnson Videos

You have a one project after another being released over the next year! A one hour Comedy Central special on December 28th and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel on Christmas, Our Family Wedding in March, and Marmaduke in June. Busy girl! Shawn King, Larry King’s wife Shawn King has reportedly been caught cheating on the CNN ‘Larry King Live’ host. Shawn King, 48, and Larry King, 74, have been married for 11 years. Rumors of a troubled marriage began back in July when they were said to be heading to divorce. The National Enquirer is reporting that Shawn Southwick, the mother of two of King’s children, has been having an affair with 29-year-old actor Hector Penate for over a year now. (Note he is also their son’s baseball coach) Larry King has reportedly been made aware of this, and he is absolutely furious, and upset. He cannot believe that it has gone on for a whole year. A new school year starts Monday for Indian River County public school students and it’ll be opening day for the county’s fourth middle school and first green school.

Storm Grove Middle School opens its $37.6 million campus in Vero Beach. The school is considered a “green” campus because it uses windows to provide natural light in classrooms and energy efficiency.

And a brand-new school without walls and doors also will open.

Starting with the new school year, all Florida school districts are required to offer virtual schools because of a 2008 law created to give parents more choice over how their children are educated. The Indian River virtual school is being run by virtual school providers Florida Virtual School and Florida Connections Academy.

For students, teachers and school staff not ready to give up the lazy days of summer, just two weeks away is Sept. 7 — the Labor Day holiday — giving all a three-day weekend.

The last day of the school year for Indian River County public schools is June 9 — 180 school days away.

Obama Speech to Muslim World

The biggest security operation ever seen in Egypt was under way tonight as Cairo prepared to welcome Barack Obama for his landmark speech to the Muslim world after a warning of revenge against the US by Osama bin Laden

Unprecedented security measures are in place for Obama's big day in Cairo, of which the centrepiece is a 50-minute address at the city's university tomorrow. He will also hold talks with President Hosni Mubarak and tour the pyramids and a medieval mosque.

But as the president arrived today in Saudi Arabia, where he wants Arab gestures to coax Israel into revived peace talks, Bin Laden ­– in a broadcast – attacked US pressure for a campaign of "killing, fighting, bombing and destruction" that had prompted the exodus of a million Muslims in north-west Pakistan.

"Obama and his administration have sown new seeds to increase hatred and revenge on America," the al-Qaida leader said in a message that was aired by al-Jazeera TV. "The number of these seeds is equal to the number of displaced people from Swat Valley."

Obama, however, will seek to reach out to 1.5 billion Muslims and Arabs in the much-awaited speech in Egypt, which has generated huge expectations about improving America's battered image across the region.

The president has to walk a fine line between improving that image and abandoning goals shared with the Bush administration.

"I thought it was very important to come to the place where Islam began and to seek his majesty's counsel and to discuss with him many of the issues we confront here in the Middle East," Obama said while standing next to 84-year-old King Abdullah in Riyadh.

The president has spoken of easing "misapprehensions" between the west and the Muslim world, where many have high hopes of the son of a Kenyan Muslim who spent part of his childhood in Indonesia. "I am confident that we're in a moment where in Islamic countries, I think there's a recognition that the path of extremism is not actually going to deliver a better life for people," Obama told NBC News before he left Washington.

The White House has been working to lower expectations about the speech, which comes after visits to Turkey and Iraq, a Persian New Year video and a town hall meeting in Istanbul, warning specifically that it will not include detailed new initiatives. Iran's top diplomat in Egypt has been invited to attend.

Parts of Cairo were in a state of lockdown last night, with tens of thousands of police lining the streets and military helicopters circling overhead. Major traffic arteries were sealed off and businesses in many neighbourhoods have been ordered to shut and residents told to stay at home and not look out of their windows.

"No corner has been left out," said one security official. "There will be security members on roofs, in houses, everywhere."

The huge security presence – which has reportedly been bolstered by up to 3,000 CIA operatives – is provoking resentment in Cairo, where tomorrow's speech has already divided opinions.

"What they're inflicting on us is haram ," complained Mohammed Iman, a computer shop employee (haram carrying a range of meanings from "religiously forbidden" to a more secular "it's unfair, it's a shame"). "Our livelihoods are being assaulted, and for what? Obama will bring nothing to this country; if they spent a fraction of all this security money here on giving people bread then we'd all be much better off."

Iman's sentiments were shared by students at Cairo University, where exams have been suspended. "It's ironic they spend all this cash now repainting the railings and sweeping the pavements, but don't bother with us the rest of the year," said Salman Fuda, a 22-year-old undergraduate.

Obama's itinerary for the day will include trips to the Giza pyramids and the 14th-century Sultan Hassan mosque, as well as bilateral talks with Mubarak, who is facing a wave of opposition over his economic policies and ties with Israel and the US. Mubarak will not attend the speech, fuelling speculation that the 81-year-old's health could be fading. But members of the formally banned Muslim Brotherhood will be there.

Despite the grumbling, some Cairenes are taking advantage of the visit's business opportunities and looking to cash in on a localised bout of Obamamania.

Gamal Shosha began churning out T-shirts likening Obama to the pharaoh Tutankhamun as soon as he heard news of the visit. He has since sold 30 from his shop in the historic Khan al-Khalili market, as well as copper plaques inscribed with Obama's name in hieroglyphics.

"When the boy king Tutankhamun took power, he was young and there was a lot of unrest in the world," explained Shosha.

"Obama is also young and the world is very disturbed at the moment; we are hoping that – like Tutankhamun – he can bring peace."

Gm bankruptcy

To nearly all passersby, the scene at 767 Fifth Avenue Sunday evening could not have been more mundane. The usual handfuls of tourist gawked at the gleaming cube atop the midtown Manhattan Apple Store. A slight but insistent breeze whipped up the front plaza’s fountains, glowing warmly in the deepening twilight.

But 25 floors above in the General Motors Building, however, the mood assuredly was anything but calm.

Hundreds of people — executives from General Motors and scores of lawyers — were gathered, preparing for the carmaker’s epochal bankruptcy filing, to be made 12 hours later.

Inside the cavernous white-marble lobby, one would be hard-pressed to find any sign of the company whose name the building shares. (The showroom G.M. once maintained for a fleet of vehicles has been absent for years. While the company maintains a small presence in the building, it is better known today for tenants like Apple, the toy store F.A.O. Schwarz and scores of hedge funds and investment firms.)

By Monday morning, the lobby will undoubtedly be filled by throngs of reporters, headed to the 25th-floor offices of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, G.M.’s restructuring counsel, to attend briefings. A bevy of TV news trucks would assuredly ring the building.

But on Sunday night, only a pair of security guards idly stood sentry in the space.

Gathered at Weil’s offices were teams of high-powered lawyers and advisers representing the company, the government and other parties, poring over documents to ensure that one of the most complicated and far-ranging bankruptcy cases in American corporate history went as smoothly as possible.

Several times, my colleague Micheline Maynard and I saw a smattering of G.M. executives entering or exiting the building. And at the curb, a black G.M. sport-utility vehicle idled behind a hot dog cart, seemingly waiting to spirit a company official away from the marathon preparations for Monday’s bankruptcy filing.

Mr. Kennedy Released From WWE

Mr. Kennedy: a guy who at one time was on the fast track to becoming a world champion in WWE, has been released, the company announced on its Web site earlier this evening.

There are no details as to why Kennedy was let go, but the most obvious assumption is that it’s due to his inability to stay healthy. After being out nine months with a dislocated shoulder, Kennedy returned to TV Monday in a 10-man tag team match on Raw and reportedly suffered a wrist injury during the match.

It was the latest in a string of injuries for Kennedy, 33, during his four years in WWE. Two months after winning the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 23 in 2007 – which most likely would have led to a world title run – he suffered a torn triceps.

When I asked Kennedy about his history of injuries in an interview this past January, he dismissed the suggestion that he was injury prone.

“You know, I’ve heard all the ‘Oh, Kennedy’s injury prone’ and all that stuff, but there are certain things that happen, and if you knew the whole story you wouldn’t necessarily think that,” he said. “I’ve just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. But it is frustrating. I had the Money in the Bank and was on the way to becoming a world champion and then injury struck. And it’s just been one thing after the other, but I just keep my head up. I was told a long time ago that if you have talent you cannot be denied and eventually good things will happen.”

During his relatively short time in wrestling, Kennedy has been somewhat of a controversial figure. Not long after he was adamant in a 2007 interview that he had not taken steroids since he signed with WWE, Kennedy was one of 10 WWE wrestlers suspended 30 days for violating the company’s Wellness Policy. The suspension came after he was among the wrestlers named in a report by Sports Illustrated as having received steroids and/or human growth hormone through Signature Pharmacy, a Florida pharmaceutical company that was under investigation.

Kennedy is definitely right about one thing, though: He has talent, and I will be shocked if he doesn’t end up in TNA.

Hollie steel breakdown

It was the battle of the pint-sized performers on Britain’s Got Talent last night as 12-year-old dancer Aidan Davis took on ten-year-old singer Hollie Steel for a place in the grand final.

Davis won the public vote to go straight through to tonight's final, while the judges were forced to choose between Hollie and Welsh waiter Greg Pritchard.

The judges voted the little girl through, praising her courage after she returned to the stage for a second performance.

She had initially fled the stage in a flood of tears during her performance of Edelweiss after nerves got the better of her.

Judge Piers Morgan said: 'Greg, you are unique but that was one (Hollie's song) of the most courageous things I have seen. It moved me to tears.'

Holden added: 'It wasn't just that she came back on stage, it was that her performance was better.'

Tonight Show

Jay Leno ended his run as host of the "Tonight Show" Friday, which he began 17 years ago after taking over from Johnny Carson. He was greeted by a large standing ovation from the audience to begin the show, and he concluded the evening by inviting on stage all the children who had been born to people who had met while working on the program (which turned out to be 68!). During his monologue he made sure to thank all the people that had made it possible over the years: "Michael Jackson, Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton." And in one of the sweetest lines of the night he talked about how he was proud to be "leaving this dance with the same girl I came in with."

Conan O'Brien, who will be taking over "Tonight Show" duties on Monday, was Leno's final guest. James Taylor was the last musical guest.

Finally, Adam Lambert, who is a personal favorite, admires a number of singers including Lady Ga Ga, Beyonce, Lenny Kravitz, David Bowie and Michael Jackson, just to name a few.
